WordPress is where you'll spend most of your time — editing pages, writing blog posts, updating images. Here's how to get in.

  • Go to your login address. Type yourdomain.com/wp-admin into your browser's address bar and press Enter. Replace "yourdomain.com" with your actual website address.
  • Enter your username and password. These were provided when your site was handed off to you.
  • Click "Log In." You'll land on your WordPress Dashboard — your home base for managing the site.

    Staying logged in

WordPress offers a "Remember Me" checkbox on the login screen. On a personal computer, checking this saves you from logging in every visit. On a shared or public computer, leave it unchecked and always log out when you're done (click your name in the top-right corner, then "Log Out").

Bookmark this page Save yourdomain.com/wp-admin as a browser bookmark so you never have to remember or retype it.

    What you'll see next

Once logged in, you land on the Dashboard — a summary screen with an admin menu running down the left side. That menu is your map to everything: Pages, Posts, Media, Appearance, and more. We walk through it in detail in Understanding the Dashboard.

    Trouble logging in?

If your password isn't working, click "Lost your password?" on the login screen and follow the email instructions. If you don't receive the reset email within a few minutes, check your spam folder, then see I Can't Log In or contact support.
