You've seen the little padlock icon next to a website address in your browser — that's SSL at work. Here's what it means and how to check on it.

What SSL actually does SSL encrypts the connection between your website and its visitors — like a sealed envelope instead of a postcard. It's why your address starts with https:// instead of http://, and it's essential for trust, security, and search engine ranking.

Checking your SSL status

  • Visit your live website in a browser.
  • Look at the address bar — a padlock icon (sometimes with no extra text, sometimes labeled "Secure") means SSL is active and valid.

You can also check directly in CyberPanel:

  • Go to SSL in the CyberPanel menu, for your website.
  • You'll see your certificate's status and its expiration date.
  • Renewing SSL

This is normally automatic Your SSL certificate renews itself on a regular schedule without any action needed from you. This section exists mainly so you know what the padlock means and where to check it — not because you'll need to do anything routinely.

If you ever see a browser warning about your site being "Not Secure," don't attempt to fix it through settings changes yourself — contact Kemet Group Consulting's support team right away and we'll resolve it, usually within minutes.
